About Us
Our mission
To support the growth of a larger, more diverse and more engaged cellular agriculture community in the UK.
Our goal
To help people with an interest in cellular agriculture in the UK to access information and connect with individuals and established organisations, and to highlight upcoming opportunities and activity in the cellular agriculture space in the UK.
Our focus
Community building by connecting, supporting and increasing awareness through our projects as well as through our events, communications and outreach.

Oana Kubinyecz
I am working as a Scientist in the cultivated meat industry, on the cell line development challenges. Just before finishing my PhD in Epigenetics at the University of Cambridge, I joined Cell Ag UK (in May 2021) and I've been involved to various degrees in our projects. These 2 roles are a perfect combination for me, since I am interested not only in the scientific aspects of cellular agriculture but I would also like to play a part in shaping the broader development of the field, including community engagement, public perception and policy and regulatory aspects. Always happy to discuss food tech and how can we improve animal welfare!

I am a scientist by training, with interests in cell biology, bioinformatics and food systems. I did my PhD on cell biology and circadian rhythms at MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology at Cambridge. In early 2022, towards the end of my PhD and my first short postdoc, I got involved in the cell ag field and joined Cell Ag UK to work on the University Mapping Projects. I have done a variety of activities since, and now happy to continue contributing to our small non-profit and the growing cell ag field as a co-director and programme manager for outreach. My other current job is as research fellow in computational proteomics at UCL, currently focusing on cancer research, although I am looking to apply similar methods to cell ag too. I am also keen on interdisciplinary research, and more general thoughtful outreach and public engagement.

I'm a PhD student working on cultivated meat in the UCL Department of Biochemical Engineering. I got into this topic because it was the ideal blend between my skills in cell biology and my passion for animal welfare and climate. I did my undergraduate degree in human biosciences before working in a few different roles in cell biology, studying cell therapy, cancer and even COVID before finding a role at Hoxton Farms. I saw the great potential for cultivated meat & cell ag in this role but felt there needed to be more done in this field in the academic space. I am one of the co-founders of the UCL Alternative Protein Project and was the president for 2 years with the aim to build the alt proteins ecosystem at UCL. I'm now enjoying doing this on a national scale with Cell Ag UK as a program manager. I am keen to keep building out the UK cell ag ecosystem.

Since turning vegan 5 years ago, I’ve seeked out avenues to help build a better food system that’s secure, sustainable and just. I most recently worked to advance the alternative protein sector through my work as the Innovation Specialist at the Good Food Institute India where I had the opportunity to lead multiple work streams including running the flagship Innovation Challenge, piloting university chapters and providing advice to a network of 100+ alt protein companies. Having now transitioned out of that role and moved to the UK, I’ve joined Cell Ag to support industry partnerships, the mentorship program and help cultivate a thriving community!

I joined Cellular Agriculture UK in August 2021 to help with the communications strategy. I have been working in the field of science communication for over 15 years within a number of different organisations in the charity and government sectors, with a particular focus on environment and conversation. After completing an MSc in Science and Society, I have a huge interested in how the public perception of cellular agriculture may shape the sector as it develops and grows, as well as the challenges of effectively communicating a rapidly developing field of research and technology.

I am a co-founder of The Centre for Feed Innovation, a non-profit working to promote scalable, sustainable and safe alternatives to traditional animal feed. Previously, I have lead and consulted on research at several NGOs, trained in non-profit strategy and worked as a research assistant in various bio labs. I joined Cell Ag UK as I am passionate about increasing the sustainability and security of our food systems. At Cell Ag UK, I have worked on helping to build networks of academics working on food innovation to foster increased collaboration in this sector.

I’m a final year undergraduate student studying Biotechnology at The University of Edinburgh, passionate about the potential of cellular agriculture to contribute to sustainability and food security. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, I’ve had industry experience at UPSIDE Foods and SCiFi Foods focusing on cell line development. I joined Cellular Agriculture UK to contribute to the University Mapping project, and am passionate about accessibility and communication in the growing UK Cell Ag field.
